Stephen Millington

Partner

Stephen Millington is a forensic accountant and investigations specialist with more than 25 years’ accounting experience, including more than two decades working exclusively in forensic accounting, financial investigations and disputes. He has worked internationally throughout his career, much of that time based in the Middle East, and has advised corporate organisations, governments, regulators, boards and senior executives on complex and sensitive financial matters.

Stephen’s experience spans complex investigations, disputes, asset tracing, financial analysis and regulatory matters across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and the United States. He has led cross-border investigations involving allegations of fraud, corruption, misconduct and financial irregularities, often requiring the reconstruction of complex transactions and the tracing of funds through multiple entities and jurisdictions.

He is regularly engaged to provide independent financial analysis and expert evidence in contentious matters. His experience includes preparing expert reports and witness statements, undertaking business and damages valuations, tracing funds and assisting legal teams and Counsel in understanding complex financial issues. He has provided fact-based testimony in civil and criminal proceedings and has acted as an expert in international arbitrations, regulatory proceedings and significant commercial disputes.

Stephen has also advised regulators and government bodies on investigations, financial crime and risk. His assignments have included major corporate and government investigations, regulatory reviews and matters involving significant financial losses and complex international structures. He is known for a methodical, evidence-led approach to complex financial problems, combining forensic discipline with commercial judgement to establish the facts, understand their implications and help clients determine the appropriate course of action.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA) and holds a BA in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Brighton. Stephen has been widely recognised as leader in forensic accounting and investigations.
